Your children,
Your neighbors,
Your pets,
Our environment.
For all of these reasons and more, it is
becoming increasingly more important to stay informed about issues
that concern our health and the health of the world around us.
Your
family
Did you know
- According to the National Gardening
Association 75 million households use synthetic chemical fertilizers
on their lawn each year.
- In 2001, the EPA completed a
nationwide survey of pesticides in 94,000 wells that provide
drinking water. More than half of the community wells and rural
wells tested contained nitrates. 20% of the community wells and
12% of the rural wells contained pesticides.
- The Journal of the National
Cancer Institute published a study that said dogs whose owners
use lawn pesticides four or more times a season were twice as
likely to get malignant lymphoma as dogs whose owners did not.
At Merrimack Valley Lawn Service,
we believe that your lawn and landscape will never be more important
than the health of your family. That's why we use only the highest
quality natural materials to maintain your landscape, never apply
synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and regularly perform laboratory
soil tests to ensure that the correct amounts of each amendment
are being used. In fact, none of the materials in our normal
lawn care program are considered pesticides by the EPA and therefore
do not even require the little yellow sign.
Our Environment
Along with peace of mind, a properly
maintained organic lawn will resist drought, insects, and disease
damage, and allow for substantially reduced watering.
Excess nutrient application,
as determined by a proper soil test, can result in excessive
aquatic plant growth and deplete dissolved oxygen levels. These
results can be long lasting and can snowball into serious environmental
damage. It's only a matter of time before these changes affect
you directly.
Pesticides are even more damaging.
Aside from being detrimental to the beneficial life in your soil,
pesticides can leach into your water supply, and even affect
the health of your pets.
Keep your family safe, your drinking water clean,
and our environment
green.
