Maintaining a lawn organically
is not rocket science,
but it definitely is a science
and is more difficult and involved
than simply following a 4-step process.
The Soil Food Web
The backbone of the entire system
is the Soil Food Web. This is similar to the food chain that
you're familiar with but is far more complex. If any segment
of the soil food web is missing, then the soil, and whatever
is planted in it, will suffer.

At Merrimack Valley Lawn Service
our organic approach focuses on restoring the foodweb to
a point where the soil can, for the most part, sustain itself.
In soil that has been treated synthetically, this process can
take up to 5 years to complete. In soils that have not been treated
synthetically, the process is typically shorter because much
of the organic life has not been destroyed by pesticides and
synthetic fertilizers.
You may have noticed that through
all of your reading here that there has been little mention of
the lawn or plants. That is because our organic approach puts
less focus on the plant itself and instead works to create a
healthy soil that can and will sustain whatever you choose to
plant in it.
